Maxie Joyce (Morris) Martin, 95, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at Fulton Manor Care Center, surrounded by those she loved.

Maxie was born on January 13, 1930, in Holts Summit, MO to the late Frank and Ila Hamilton Morris. She was united in marriage to Loyal Ray Martin on September 7, 1949. Together, they shared 69 loving years of marriage before his passing on December 7, 2018.

Maxie was a graduate of Centertown High School. She was employed as secretary at Bush Elementary School for twenty-seven years. While employed there she had a courtyard named in her honor. She was an active member of the Friends of Callaway County Library, Callaway Hospital Auxiliary, Missouri Retired Teachers Association, the Kingdom of Callaway Historical Society, and the College Board of Associates. She was awarded the Evelyn Bedell award by the presbytery of Missouri.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Maxie dedicated her life to her family. Her warmth, strength, and kind spirit were evident in everything she did, and she leaves behind a legacy of love and grace. Maxie enjoyed spending time with her family, playing bridge, reading, and traveling with friends and family.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter Janet Russell (Keith Warnhoff), her son, Dennis Ray Martin (Judy); her beloved grandchildren, Trent Russell, Katie Peck (Edward), Emily Schwertfeger (Matt), Becky Blaylock (Mike), and Deanna Martin; and seven cherished great-grandchildren; Hasten Blaylock, Gabriel Blaylock, Garret Schwertfeger, Maelyn Schwertfeger, Jase Schwertfeger, Alexandria Peck, Isabelle Peck, and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Maxie was preceded in death by one sister, Glenna McVeigh.
