Maxine Baxter Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lowell-Tims Funeral Home And Crematory - Altus on Sep. 20, 2024.
Maxine "Nena" Baxter was born on September 5, 1932, in Marietta, Oklahoma, and departed this life on September 18, 2024, at Magnolia Creek Courtyards. Nena will be missed immensely by her family and community. As the next-to-youngest of nine
siblings, she relocated to Tipton, Oklahoma, at the tender age of three. On May 8, 1948, she united in marriage with Charlie "Sam" Baxter in Vernon, Texas, and resided in Tipton. Together, they nurtured two daughters, Kay and Lynette.
Maxine's remarkable career in manufacturing was marked by her exceptional work ethic and meticulous attention to detail, culminating in her role as floor manager at Schlegel Manufacturing. She was a natural mentor to all she encountered, and later retired at the age of 67. After retirement, Nena turned her passion for helping others toward her church and community. During a harsh ice storm, she opened her kitchen to ensure that her community was fed for an entire week. She was the grandmother to the 2011 Tipton High School graduating class, and a devoted football fan of both the Dallas Cowboys and Oklahoma State Cowboys.
Left to honor Maxine's memory are her two daughters, Kay Wilson and Lynette Green; three grandchildren, Keith Brooking and wife Shasta, Amy Rodriguez, and Mendie White and husband Brian; five great-grandchildren, Harli Davis and husband Adam,
Kirbi Pittman and husband Eddy, Lindi Brooking, Amelia White and Brenden White; four great-great-grandchildren, Wylee, Wyatt and Kaezi Pittman, and Shiloh Davis; and numerous nieces, nephew and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Brothers, William T. Blackmon, Leslie "L.T" Blackmon, Sisters, DeLoyce Williams, Arita Beth Frazier, Anna Mayes, Sythia Mayes, Odessia Beckes, Clarice Milligan, Doris Veach; her son-in-law Ron Wilson, and her beloved husband Charlie "Sam" Baxter.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Tipton First Baptist Church at 300 E Davis
