Maxine M. Dunn

Maxine (Freimark) Dunn, 95, of Genoa, Ohio, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2025, surrounded by her loving family and friends. Maxine was born on August 17,1929 in Martin, Ohio to Lester and Hazel (Witty) Freimark. Along with her parents, Maxine is preceded in death by her beloved husband, George Dunn; her two sons, Craig Dunn and Kevin Dunn; her brothers, Dr. Lyle (Marilyn) Freimark and Kermit (Sally) Freimark; her sister, Eileen (Hugh) Sautter; her mother and father-in-Law, Kenneth and Bessie (Kane) Dunn; and many brothers and sisters-in-law. She is survived by her sons, Randy (Debra) Dunn, Allan (Michelle) Dunn; her granddaughters, Angela (Matt) Bradfield, Melissa (Matt) Wehner, Noelle Dunn, Maria Dunn (David Hornstien), and Hollie Dunn (Mike Marlow); her grandsons, Brian (April) Huston, Matthew Dunn, and Andrew (Chelsie) Dunn; along with 18 great- grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren with two more on the way; her daughter-in-law, Karen (Mark) Morrison; many nieces and nephews; and many, many close friends who loved her, helped, her and will greatly miss her.

Maxine graduated from Genoa High School in 1947. After school, she worked for Steven's Oil Co. for six years, during which time she married her beloved husband, George, on June 6, 1952, at the age of 23. Maxine and George shared a beautiful life and four boys for twenty years until his death in 1972. Maxine loved her family and dedicated her life to raising her boys. When her youngest started school she began working again for the Genoa Board of Education, which she continued for 23 years. Maxine was a cherished member of the Genoa community, where over the years she baked hundreds of pies for the Kiwanis club, her church, her family, and anyone who brought her rhubarb and strawberries. She also participated in the American Legion, was a den leader for Boy Scouts, served people through meals on wheels, volunteered as an election poll worker and at the senior center in Genoa, and spent a lifetime making friends along the way. Maxine loved to help people and was generous with her time, energy, and love as she felt, "she was put on Earth to help others and got much pleasure from doing so!" In 2024, she was bestowed the distinguished honor of serving as Grand Marshall of the Genoa Homecoming Parade. This recognition from her beloved community was a source of immense pride and joy.

Besides her community, Maxine served her church family at Trinity United Methodist Church in Genoa. Along with serving on several committees, the prayer- chain, and being recognized for her over 70 years of church membership, she took great joy in singing in her church choir while many enjoyed her beautiful voice.

Truly her greatest joy were the people in her life. She loved nurturing and spoiling her grandchildren, spending time with her children, treasured moments with her extended family, and cherished visits from her many friends. Known by many names: Mom, Grandma, Gram, GG, Meme, friend, Max; Maxine lived up to each one with grace and love. She will be truly missed by everyone who knew her, and her kindness and love will be remembered for years to come.

Visitation for Maxine will be held on Friday, August 15, 2025 at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home, 501 West Street, Genoa, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Funeral Services will be on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 313 Main Street, Genoa beginning at 11 a.m. where burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park, Perrysburg.
