Myra Haack Zaenger, 94 of Toledo Ohio, joined God’s eternal kingdom Thursday December 25, 2025. Myra was born May 6, 1931, near Williston, OH to Lawrence and Edna Haack. She graduated from Genoa High School in 1949 and the Toledo Hospital School of Nursing in 1952. Myra practiced as a Registered Nurse for 35 years in the Newborn Unit at Toledo Hospital.
Myra married Frank Zaenger in 1955, her husband and loving companion of 51 years. Together they raised two sons, Allan and Paul. In Toledo, Myra was a member of St. Petri Lutheran Church, and beginning in 2011, Trinity Lutheran Church. She continued to worship at Trinity through the pandemic and her move to Columbus in 2022 through the gift of streaming online worship services. She actively participated in women’s ministries at both churches. She also volunteered at the Lutheran Home of Mercy at Toledo and was a member of the Toledo Hospital School of Nursing Alumnae Association.
Together with Frank she enjoyed travel often in the company of friends and family, visiting many destinations in the United States. They especially enjoyed their trip to Europe and cruises to Alaska and Hawaii.
Myra was preceded in death by her husband Frank, parents Edna and Lawrence Haack, sisters Valda and Elaine Haack and Joyce Sells and brothers in law Arnold Sells and Harry C. Zaenger.
She is survived by Paul (Nancy) and Linnaea Zaenger, Allan(Kathy) Zaenger, Sarah(Dominic), Claire, Ruth and Lucia Monley, Jeffrey (Katie), Zoe Zaenger, and Elliott (Cheryl) Sells, Carlene Trost, Donna Haack, Ann Verner, many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends
Visitation will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 4560 Glendale Avenue in Toledo at 10:00 AM on Monday January 19, 2026 with services to take place at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Allen Township Cemetery, Williston, Ohio, immediately after the service. Arrangements have been entrusted to Walter Funeral Home.
