A graveside service for Maxine (Hobbs) Emerson, age 96, of Saint Jo will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 23, 2025 at Old Bennington Presbyterian Cemetery in Bennington, Oklahoma. Visitation will be held from 6:00-7:00 PM on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at Scott Funeral Home in Saint Jo. Mrs. Emerson passed away on Sunday, March 9, 2025 in Nocona, Texas.
Maxine was born on October 14, 1928, in Eldorado, Oklahoma to Jimmie and Lucille (Worley) Hobbs. She married Henry Miles Emerson on May 31,1946. After moving around to several jobs, they made their home in Bennington, Oklahoma where they became active at Old Bennington Presbyterian Church for many years. Maxine and Henry then moved to Saint Jo, Texas in 1969 and made many friends there. In 1978, they made their home at Nocona Lake where Maxine worked at Nocona Boot Company as a lead supervisor. She was passionate about her job and the people she worked with. Maxine enjoyed living on the lake and sharing it with her family and friends. She was always up for a cup of coffee and a game of Skip-Bo. After her husband's death, she moved to Wichita Falls in 1998 and spent most of her last years there where she had a host of friends and family close by.
She lived a long, happy life and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her daughter: Mary Lou and husband Doyle Cook of Saint Jo; 2 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; brother: Dennis and wife Sheila Hobbs of Wichita Falls; sister: Janis Andrews of Bennington, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
Maxine was preceded in death by her husband: Henry Emerson; son: Buddy Emerson; parents: Jimmie and Lucille Hobbs; brother: Jim Hobbs; a much beloved nephew: Scottie Hobbs; and granddaughter: Stella Cook.
