Maxine A. Taskerud was born on January 17, 1949, to Lyle and Delilah (Olson) in Ellendale, ND. She grew up on a farm two miles west of Frederick across the "Dry Run." Max attended school in Frederick from K-12. She was in the band and chorus. Max enjoyed her musical endeavors. She was a soloist for many occasions and events. Max was in High School Music Camp, two years of the All-State Chorus, and Miss Ellendale of 1967.
Max met the love of her life in college, Dennis Kinslow of Kulm, SD. In June 1969, Maxine and Dennis were married at St Paul's Lutheran Church in Frederick. They had three children: Patrick, Eric, and Kimberley.
Max was a foster mom, ran the Frederick grocery store with Dennis during the 1970s, and ran an in-home daycare. She enjoyed singing, crocheting, reading, painting, and spending time at the local ceramics shop in Frederick.
In 2014, they moved to Sturgis, and Dennis got a job with Bear Butte Valley Water. Max volunteered at the thrift store until her health prevented her from doing so.
In the summer of 2018, she played clarinet with the Northern Hills Community Band.
Dennis had to become the laundry guy, cook, and housekeeper for the last couple of years, and Maxine was grateful for that help.
Max is survived by her husband of 55 years, Dennis; three children: Patrick (Aimee), St. Cloud, MN; Eric (Laura), Brookings, SD; Kimberley (Andrew) Yelkin, Mosinee, WI; grandchildren: Justine Kinslow, Cold Spring, MN; Austin Kinslow, Sauk Rapids, MN; Sadie (Jordan) Mullen, Huron, SD; Toby Kinslow, Brookings, SD; Amelia Yelkin, Mosinee, WI; great-grandchildren: Felix, Aurora, Max, Rowan, Nova; her baby brother, Palmer (Yolanda) Taskerud, El Cajon, CA; several cousins and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her two older brothers, Eugene Thompson and Charles Taskerud, and her two older sisters, Marcia "Pinky" Peterson and Margaret Barton.
