Doris Maxine Reed went to be with Christ, her Savior and Lord, on Tuesday, November 15, 2022. She was almost 91 years of age, having been born on December 17, 1931 in Saxton, Pennsylvania. In spite of her age, her homegoing was unexpected. She was sharp and engaging right up to the moment of her passing.
From 1960 to 1984 Maxine and her husband, Robert W. Reed, owned and operated the Dairy Queen Store on West Fourth Street in Lewistown. Robert went to be with Christ in 2014. Doris and Robert had three sons, Stephen, Mark and Greg. Stephen passed in 2009. Maxine is survived by eleven grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Joan Jones of King William, Virginia and Beverly Horne of Pendleton, Indiana.
Maxine was a member of the Fairview Bible Church of Lewistown.
For the last year and a half, Maxine resided in an independent living apartment at Masonic Village in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania where she was near her son and his family. She remained socially active, entertaining friends and relatives. But, without question, her greatest earthly joy during the last few years was holding and visiting with her great-grandchildren. She was genuinely loved and will truly be missed.
A funeral service in loving memory of Maxine will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday November 19, 2022 at King-Barr Funeral Home LLC, 120 Logan Street, Lewistown, with Pastor David Fultz officiating. There will be a viewing held at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
Interment will take place in Locust Grove Cemetery, Belleville.
Although no gifts or flowers are expected or requested, in lieu of flowers, gifts to the Antioch Mission International, PO Box 1277, Jupiter, Florida, 33468, will be greatly appreciated.
Online condolences can be shared with the family at www.kingbarrfuneralhome.com
