Maxwell Ryan Anderson June 16, 2025
Our sweet boy, Max, was born on March 31, 2023 to parents Jason and Amanda Anderson, baby brother to Madelyn and Theodore. He passed away this week at just two years old, leaving behind a lifetime of love, laughter, and unforgettable moments in his short time with us.
Max lit up every room with his big blue eyes and mischievous grin-especially when he was pinning down his siblings with a devilish laugh or wrecking a carefully built fort just because he could. His smile and those eyes stole his Mema's heart from the very beginning.
He was passionate about tractors and trucks, Zambonis (his beloved "boni"), riding in shopping carts while eating Costco hot dogs, "nanas" (even the green or bruised ones), and any excuse to get into the fridge or throw a book in your lap. Every morning started with milk, coffee, and a book with Daddy, and every night ended with "Skidamarink", "Hush Little Baby", and more books.
He had no patience for utensils and hated being shirtless-but you could always count on his little butt crack to make an appearance. He adored his "blank blank" (blanket), boat rides, car rides squished between his siblings, and rolling cars back and forth with Theo on the floor. He always wanted to be outside in the yard on his trampoline or playscape, running around and soaking up every ounce of life.
His assigned color was light blue, but he had a mind of his own and everything was purple. He adored dance parties, yacht rock, stomping around the house like an elephant, and watching golf with his Grandpa ("Bupa"). He called out for Poppy when he saw anything Lions or tractor related - "Oooh, Poppy tractor", and when Mema said "rocky rock", Max lovingly knew it was time for bed.
When Daddy finally got the 4-wheeler running, although they only managed a handful of rides up and down the street, Max rode like a king-feet kicked up on the front, hands behind his head, giggling the whole way.
At the rink with his mom Amanda, he was a fixture-riding around with hockey players, pointing to the Motor City Rockers logo and proudly saying "Mom." His love for music ran deep, especially when Mr. James played for him at the Andersons' or during Wednesday night band practice. He always made his presence known-whether with a yell of "Shoo! Shoo!" if his Velcro came undone, a full-on food explosion at mealtime (like the ramen noodle fiasco!), or simply by retrieving your cell phone whether you wanted it or not.
He was an amazing cuddler - although most of the time, it was only his grandparents who earned those snuggles. He hated the Easter Bunny, tolerated Santa, and had no time for sitting still in photos (though he never took a bad one). He loved to ride in his cozy coupe and figuring out how things work-often by dismantling them. He was our cutest little pirate, lucky number 3, and the loudest, most lovable whirlwind we'll ever know.
Maxwell was surrounded by love every moment of his life, and he gave it back tenfold. His story may have been short, but it was full-and deeply, deeply cherished.
Max is survived by his parents Jason and Amanda, his loving siblings Maddie and Theo, his beloved grandparents Jane and Mark Rutkelis, Gerald Anderson, the late Frances Anderson and the late Pamela (nee Bingham) Anderson. Maxwell is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family.
