Cumberland – May (Nazarian) Gabriel, 90, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 31, 2025. She was the beloved wife of Albert Gabriel for sixty-five beautiful years. Born in Pawtucket and moved to Cumberland in 1968 with her husband. She was the daughter of the late Zekie B. and Amenia (Nahas) Nazarian. May was devoted to her family and known for many things. She was a wonderful cook who perfected Syrian dishes and sweets. You could drop by her house at any time and would never leave hungry. Outside of the home, she worked in the cafeteria at Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI) in Lincoln, RI. She enjoyed her time there tremendously, especially interacting with the young college students. She was a friend to all and exceled at conversations with everyone she encountered. She was known as a kind and caring person who always saw the best in others. May was also very proud of her Syrian heritage and could speak the language. Many of her early years were spent with her twin sister, June, dancing at social events while their brother John played the Syrian oud. She was a devoted Christian and loved learning about different religions. She was very active in Saint Ephraim's Syriac Orthodox Church in Central Falls, RI. She participated in the women's society, church bazaars, and other church functions. She will be deeply missed by many of her family, friends, and church community. In addition to her beloved husband, she is survived by three children, Lori Adams of Celebration, FL, Jeffrey Gabriel of Cranston, RI, and Todd Gabriel and his wife, Christie, of Cumberland, RI; two grandchildren, Amanda Biocchi and Megan Adams and her wife, Hannah; two siblings, Dr. John Nazarian and Donna Salhany; two sisters-in laws, Patricia Nazarian and Nancy Reed; two brothers-in-law, Abraham "Bee" Albert and Ronald Gabriel and his wife, Carole and many nieces and nephews. She was the twin sister of the late June Albert and sister to the late Fabian, Michael, Sippi, Fred and Judge George Nazarian, Mary Zompa, Josephine Apostolou, and sister-in-law of the late Robert and Doris George. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Services on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ephraim's Syriac Orthodox Church, 215 Washington Street, Central Falls, followed by a graveside service in Swan Point Cemetery, Blackstone Blvd., Providence. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in WILLIAM W. Tripp Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to St. Ephraim's Church would be appreciated. Online condolences welcomed at www.trippfuneralhome.com
