Maylene Bonnell Obituary

Harlingen, Texas - Maylene "Rusty" Bonnell, age 88, passed away on January 18, 2026, in Harlingen, Texas. Born on January 8, 1938, in Battle Creek, Michigan, she was the daughter of Robert "Bob" Robbins and Genevieve "Jane" Edna Grace Kleinfeldt.

Rusty dedicated a significant portion of her life to her career at the Kellogg Company, where she worked until her retirement. A woman of varied interests, Rusty cherished music and took great joy in singing. She was an active member of the Sweet Adelines and the St. Paul Lutheran Church Choir and participated in numerous social singing groups throughout her life.

In addition to her musical pursuits, Rusty had a passion for raising dogs and cats, as well as gardening, cooking, and gathering with family and friends. She especially enjoyed her travels across North America, with winter trips to Fun N Suns RV Resort in San Benito, Texas, keeping her engaged in music and social activities.

Rusty is survived by her beloved husband, Gary Bonnell, affectionately known as "her pal," along with her children, nine busy grandchildren, and eighteen smiling great-grandchildren spread across Michigan, Arizona, Indiana, and Florida.
