Maynard "Dusty" Johnson, 88, of Rushford, MN, passed away on June 6, 2025.

On June 6, 2025, Maynard Johnson joined his beloved wife Marjo in eternity. He was born August 2, 1936, in Lanesboro, Minnesota, to Arthur and Myrtle Johnson. After losing his mother at a young age, Maynard struck out on his own, working on local farms before moving to South Dakota to live his cowboy dreams.

That life changed when he met Marjo. They married in 1958, and shortly after, Maynard served in the U.S. Army as a tank driver in the 2nd Armored Division. The couple raised four children: Tim, Todd, Maynard Thomas (M.T.), and Marjo Jill.

Following his military service, Maynard built a successful career in construction, specializing in home building, concrete, and masonry. His son Tim and grandson Tyler carried on that legacy.

Maynard and Marjo spent winters in Florida, where he enjoyed the bluegrass community and made many lasting friendships. In later years, he found joy in fishing with his grandson Cody, cooking, and restoring fiddles.

Maynard’s family was his greatest priority. Known for his kindness, wisdom, and strength, he was always there when someone needed help or advice. He will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his children: Tim (Diane) Johnson, M.T. (Theresa) Johnson, and Marjo Jill (Kurt) Baertsch; grandchildren: Cody, Mason, Keegan, Gustav, and Gunnar; great-grandchildren: Nolan, Evan, and Mia, and their mother Kelcie; and his brother Joel.

He was preceded in death by his wife Marjo, son Todd, grandchildren Tyler and Jamie, and his sister Betty Jo.

A memorial service and interment will take place at a later date at the Veterans Cemetery in Preston, Minnesota.
