McCurdy Samuels Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bell's Funeral Home & Cremation Services - Port St. Lucie on Feb. 7, 2026.
McCurdy Samuels, affectionately known as "Mac" and "Mac Daddy," passed away peacefully on February 1, 2026, in Port St. Lucie, Florida, at the age of 79.

Born on February 24, 1946, in Manchester, Jamaica, Mac carried his Jamaican roots with pride throughout his life. The values he learned growing up-hard work, resilience, generosity, and deep family loyalty-shaped the man he became and never left him, no matter where life took him.

Mac attended Grovetown Primary school in Manchester, JA. After leaving primary school he passed his 3rd year and GC exam. Mac became a very knowledgeable and highly respected teacher who taught many students. He later left Manchester, JA and moved to Kingston, JA where he worked for JOS Bus Company as a conductor for several years. In 1970.

Mac relocated to the US when he moved to Springfield, Ohio and resided with his uncle Bosie Hall. He reunited with his childhood sweetheart Icho 'Pat' Samuels in 1976 and were married January 22, 1976.

Mac was a highly respected aerodynamics engineer, dedicating more than 40 years to Cascade Corporation, where he was admired for his intelligence, precision, and unwavering work ethic. After retiring and relocating to Florida, his passion for engineering endured, leading him to continue working with Pursuit Aerospace, a testament to his love for learning and purpose-driven living.

A true Jamaican at heart, Mac expressed his culture through food, music, laughter, and togetherness. He loved to cook and was especially famous for his authentic jerk chicken, a staple at family gatherings and a source of pride. His kitchen-and his home-were always places of warmth, storytelling, and joy. With music playing and food on the grill, Mac was in his element.

Mac was a devoted sports fan who proudly supported the Cincinnati Bengals and Ohio State football, and he brought the same competitive spirit to bowling, dominoes, and other games-always playing to win and always having fun doing it. He also cherished quieter pleasures, including bird-watching, casino outings, and enjoying his favorite tunes.

Above all, Mac unconditionally loved his family. His love was deep, constant, and unmistakable. He was known for his infectious laugh, quick wit, and captivating stories-often shared with Jamaican humor-that brought people together and made every gathering feel like home.

Mac was preceded in death by his parents Leonard and Francis Hall, his two sisters Iris and Ruby, and two brothers FitzRoy and Harold.

He leaves to cherish his memory (his beloved childhood sweetheart) wife, Icho (Pat) Samuels; children Andrea, Heather, Kevon, and Marie; and his grandchildren, Kemoy, Amoy, Matthew, Julius, James, Kenya, Braylen, and Kessana. He is also survived by a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, and his living siblings Charles Samuels, Alverse Samuels, Genevieve White, Eileen Golding, Doreen Samuels, Carmen Barrett, and Cherry Samuels, along with extended family and friends in Jamaica, the United States, and beyond.

A viewing will be held on February 15, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m., at Port Saint Lucie Seventh-day Adventist Church, where family and friends will gather to celebrate a life rooted in love, culture, faith, and joy.

Mac's legacy lives on in the strength of his family, the pride of his heritage, the meals shared, the laughter echoed, and the lives he touched. He never missed a chance to enjoy good food, good music, and good company-and he definitely never passed up the opportunity to tell everyone how things should be done. Knowing Mac, he would want us smiling, laughing, and shaking our heads one last time.

"Walk good, Mac. Yuh gone ahead already - save wi a seat, keep di music playing, and mek sure di food nice."
