McKenzi died peacefully on Saturday, June 7th, 2025, at 8:05am with her mother and father by her side. She had been under in-home hospice care for 3 months with pneumonia and respiratory failure.
McKenzi was born in Rancho Bernardo, California on March 30th, 1990. When she was 5 months old, she began having seizures and was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder called Lissencephaly. At that time the family was told she would only live a few years.
She was a fighter and blessed her family with her sweet spirit for 35 years.
The family moved to Arvada, Colorado when McKenzi was two years old. She attended Margaret Walters school until she was in fourth grade. She then attended Sierra Elementary, and Arvada Middle school. She graduated from Ralston Valley High School in 2008.
McKenzi spent four days a week at her day program, A Brighter Community, where she had many friends. They blessed her life in so many ways. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and attended the Arvada 6th ward. Her church family showed her pure Christ-like love for many years.
McKenzi was a joyful and sweet person who loved music and laughter. She was an outgoing, social person, and loved having people talk to her and sing to her. She had to go through many physical challenges, including several surgeries and illnesses. She faced these challenges valiantly, with great strength and patience.
McKenzi is survived by her mother, Sandee and her father, Mike, and her siblings Logan (Whitney), Cheyenne and Parker(Sarah). She also has two nieces and two nephews that she loved dearly; Hunter, Sophie, Emmett and Gracie.
