Meagan Ashley Maloney, 42 years old, recently of Arizona, passed away suddenly on Monday, September 16,2024 after a fierce battle with a sudden illness. She was born July 14, 1982, in Denver and raised in Oak Park, Illinois.
Loving daughter of Mary K Maloney, she met her forever "Dad" James D'Amico in 1986 at the tender age of 4 years old. While in Oak Park, Meagan attended St. Giles Elementary School and graduated from Fenwick High School as a member of the National Honors Society. After residing in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, for a time, she eventually received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Resurrection University in Chicago in 2012. A lover of art and all things symmetry, she decided to specialize in plastic surgery nursing and developed extensive operating room experience as well as expertise in non surgical procedures. Meagan's experience began in Chicago, where she worked for a prominent plastic surgeon on Chicago's Magnificent Mile. After moving to Scottsdale, Arizona, she continued her passion, education, and experience in this area. Meagan was a leader in the aesthetics industry, a highly sought after national trainer and one of only a few Board-Certified Aesthetic Nurse Specialists in the country. Meagan was also a member of ISPAN, the International Society of Plastic and Aesthetic Nurses.
Meagan loved her work, ballroom dancing, Irish step dancing, country music, Irish music, and traveling to see friends and family. Absolutely nothing was more important to her than her son, Johnny, as well as her fur baby, Austin, named for the city she found him. She will be deeply loved and missed by many friends who adored her both personally and professionally. Her vibrant personality, lively spirit, and the kindness she showed to everyone around her will always be remembered. Her sense of humor and sharp wit, present throughout her entire life, will always be treasured.
Meagan is survived by her teenage son, the love of her life, Johnny, her parents, Mary K Maloney and Jim D'Amico, her best friend and brother J.P. (Lori) D'Amico, her newborn niece, Ava Marie, her aunts and uncles, Anne Clark, James P. Maloney, godmother Irene (Bill) Maloney Duffy, Tom Maloney, godfather Patrick (Carmel) Maloney, her first cousins, Eamonn (Jenny), Liam and Colm, Patrick Joseph (Sheilla), Tara, Conor (Sam), Rory, Ryan, Kyle, Dylan, and especially her goddaughter Brigid, whom along with Meg's parents and brother, never left her side during her final hours. She will be missed by her cherished D'Amico extended family, among them, her aunts Mary Stokes, Sue (Terry) Nosal, and her Uncle Johnny D'Amico to name but a few as well as extensive D'Amico cousins in many states including Matt D'Amico from Colorado, she is also survived by her half sister Aimee Hale-Smith from California.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Anne and Pat Maloney from Swinford, County Mayo, Ireland, and the Honorable James M. P. D'Amico and Dorothea D'Amico of Chicago, and Vivian and William Hale of Utah.
Visitation will be held Thursday, September 26, 2024, from 3-7:30PM at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 6150 N. Cicero Avenue, Chicago, IL. Chapel Prayer Friday, September 27, 2024, at 9:15AM at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home and processing to St. Mary of the Woods Church, 6955 N. Hiawatha Avenue, Chicago, IL, for Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM. Interment will follow at All Saints Catholic Cemetery, Des Plaines, IL.
