Medwin "Dee" Beale Jr.

Medwin Dee Beale Jr., 80, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2025, in Houston, Texas. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Medwin-affectionately known as "Dee," "MD," and to some "Mad Dog"- lived a life marked by service, faith, and unwavering dedication to those around him. Born on October 21, 1944, MD's life was rooted in commitment-to his family, his church, his country, and his community. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and later in the United States Marine Corps Reserves, retiring with distinction as a Master Gunnery Sergeant. His military service reflected the discipline and integrity that would define every chapter of his life. Alongside his time in the armed forces, MD dedicated himself to law enforcement. Over the years, he served with honor in the Houston Police Department, the Harris County Sheriff's Office, and the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office. His career in public safety was a testament to his protective nature and deep sense of responsibility. After retiring from law enforcement, he transitioned into investment work-a new path that allowed him to continue serving others through guidance and support. MD's faith was central to his life. A longstanding member of First Baptist Church Friendswood, he found joy and purpose in teaching Sunday school and sharing his love for the Lord. His spiritual strength was evident to all who knew him and served as a guiding light for his family and community. MD was preceded in death by his father Medwin Beale Sr., mother Pauline, stepmother Audrey, Virginia, stepsister Gwen Motley, and brother Carlton J. Beale ("Bo"). He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary McConathy Beale, daughter Brenda Beale Deyo and husband Donald, son Medwin D. Beale III ("Trey") and wife Brandy, and his grandchildren Kathryn Gober, Micah Beale, Naomi Beale and Joshua Toney as well as his step brothers Byron and Gerald Motley. Beyond his professional accomplishments and family devotion, MD had a passion for hunting and enjoyed time at the shooting range. He was an active member of HPROA (Houston Police Retired Officers Association) and participated in Masonic Lodge activities-communities where he formed lasting friendships grounded in shared values. Those who knew MD will remember him as an excellent storyteller whose tales could captivate any room. He was caring and protective-a man who showed love freely and deeply cherished those around him. His absence will be felt profoundly by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and serve as a lasting reminder of a life well lived in service to others. A visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 17, 2025 at First Baptist Church of Friendswood, 111 East Heritage in Friendswood, Texas. A graveside service will be held at 4:00 p.m. at the Colony Cemetery in Flatonia, Texas.
