It is with deep sorrow, yet heartfelt gratitude for a life well lived, that we announce the passing of Margaret "Meg" Lynne Dorman, age 73, of Mesquite, Texas. Meg was born on March 6, 1952, in
Dallas, Texas, to George and Della Rose (Gelselker) Dunn. She passed away on December 30, 2025. A bright light in the lives of so many, Meg's kindness, warmth, and presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Meg was raised in Dallas, alongside her brother, Bill, and from an early age displayed the outgoing, independent, and energetic spirit that would define her life. She truly never met a stranger. Known for her warm heart and friendly nature, Meg had a way of making others feel welcome and valued. Her boundless energy earned her the affectionate nickname "The Energizer Bunny" among family and friends - a name that perfectly captured her enthusiasm for life and her refusal to slow down.
She graduated from W. W. Samuell High School in Dallas, Class of 1970, and went on to attend Eastville College in Mesquite, where she earned her associate's degree in 1972. That same year, Meg began her career with 7-Eleven, where she worked in various positions for 38 years. Her dedication, professionalism, and strong work ethic carried her through a long and fulfilling career until her retirement in 2010.
Retirement, however, never meant rest for Meg. True to her all-or-nothing nature, she quickly found ways to stay busy and connected to the things she loved. She spent much of her time working and enjoying life at Devil's Bowl Speedway, Smiley's Racing, and H & J Tire Company, places that reflected her love for excitement and community.
Meg had a deep appreciation for animals and considered her pets an important part of her family. She held a special love for her horses, finding great joy in riding and competing in local playdays and barrel racing events. In her spare time, Meg also enjoyed remodeling and building homes. Traveling with her husband, Kevin, brought her great happiness, as did memorable casino trips to Las Vegas and Choctaw with friends. Above all, Meg found purpose in caring for others. She was nurturing, generous, and deeply devoted to her family and friends, always ready to help, listen, or simply be present.
Meg lived her life fully and with intention. A very classy lady, she always made sure her hair and makeup were done - whether she was heading out for the day or feeding her horses at home. She carried herself with humble confidence and was affectionately known as the "Queen of Milam Road." Her authenticity was admired, and she was truly loved by everyone she met.
Meg was preceded in death by her parents, George and Della Rose Dunn. She is survived by her devoted husband of ten years, Kevin Dale Fording, with whom she shared a deep and loving bond. She is also survived by her sons, Trent Dorman and Michael Fording; her grandchildren, Kinley Dorman, MacKenzie Fording, MacKaelyn Fording, Jack Fording, and Marlee Fording; her brother, Bill Dunn and wife Amanda; her nephew, Wes Dunn; her great-nephew, Sebastian Dunn; her great-niece, Pilar Dunn; and her lifelong best friends, whom she lovingly referred to as her sisters, Alane Malone and Lisa Record. Additionally, she is survived by her beloved pets, whom she truly considered her children: her dogs Jolene and Cujo-Brownie; her house cats Slick, Patty Cake, and Unger; her barn cat Duke; her cherished horses Nasty, Harley, and Baby; and her precious donkeys, Bonnie and Clyde Burro.
Meg's life was a testament to kindness, vibrant energy, and deep devotion to others, and her memory will forever live in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know and love her.
