Megan Elizabeth Vroom Kisala, 46, of Orlando, Florida, passed on Friday, September 20, 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Megan was born on June 6, 1978 in New Brunswick, NJ to Charlotte Vroom. After growing up in Jersey City and then Mount Pocono, PA, Megan went to Rutgers University in New Brunswick where she majored in English and Theater Arts. She excelled in school with her brilliant mind and her incomparable tenacity. Megan was a tremendous writer and performer (she was unforgettable as Juliet's Nurse in a production of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet), intelligent, articulate, and insightful beyond her years; she loved music, especially '80s hair metal bands, but her absolute favorite rock band was Guns 'N Roses. She was a theater girl, too; she loved musicals – particularly Cats, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and Phantom of the Opera to name a few.
In 2005, she met Daniel Kisala, the love of her life. They moved to Orlando, Florida to be closer to Disney World, one of Megan's favorite places in the world. Soon after, they bought their first home, settled into a blissful domestic existence, and on February 18, 2022, they finally became husband and wife.
Megan was a boundlessly kind and loving soul, always taking care of the people she loved, always thinking of others before herself. She had–and always will have–an unbreakable bond with her loving mother Charlotte and her dear grandmother Majorie; together they were the Three Musketeers. Megan lived for her nieces and her nephew. She cherished and loved animals and had many pets of her own (including a few cats.maybe more than a few cats). Megan loved to laugh and enjoy yummy treats like ice cream and cake with her husband on a quiet night at home. She loved to cuddle. She loved to cook and to bake. She didn't want for much; all she wanted was for her people to be okay.
Megan is survived by her husband Daniel, her mother Charlotte, her father-in-law John, her sister-in-law Melissa and her husband Michael, her brother-in-law John and his wife Nina, her nieces Gianna, Tea, and Jolie and her nephew Michael, her best friends Natalie and Angela, and countless other loving and close friends and family members, who will all miss her far greater than words can ever begin to express.
Services will be held at Calhoun Mania Funeral Home on 19 Lincoln Avenue in Rutherford. Wake to be held on Tuesday October 1 at 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm with a mass on Wednesday October 2, 12 noon, at St. Mary's Church in Rutherford immediately followed by interment at Holy Cross Mausoleum in North Arlington.
