Mrs. Mekhla Dawn Liburd

Mekhla Dawn Liburd, born on December 10, 1972, in Washington, D.C., to Lonnietta Grady and the late Thomas Harper, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2024. Mekhla, affectionately known as Kia or Kia Boo to her loved ones, was a vibrant and spirited individual who cherished moments spent in the company of family and friends.
On April 24, 1992, Mekhla married her beloved husband, Elbert Liburd. Together, they raised two daughters, Jasmine and Keisha Liburd, and were blessed with a grandchild, Isaiah.
As the youngest of three sisters, including Leslie and Michelle, Mekhla shared a deep bond with her family, especially her cousins, with whom she spent many joyful summers creating lasting memories. She leaves behind many loved ones, including her God mom Rehenia Boyce. Her love for fashion and style was evident in her impeccable wardrobe and hairstyles, reflecting her lively and dynamic personality.
