After a brief illness, James “Jim” Helman passed away early Sunday, July 20.
Jim was the original “fix-it” dad, a self-taught landscaper, auto mechanic, builder, and IT specialist. He was a man who could make magic out of whatever he found lying around, a trait he has passed onto his children.
Jim was born in Lancaster, PA on November 28, 1960 to Pearl and Clyde Helman. He joined the military and traveled around the world before settling in Fayetteville, NC for over 30 years. After leaving the Army, Jim worked at Ft. Bragg for the majority of his career, where he developed life long friendships with his coworkers. In retirement, he met a whole new community of friends in Salt Springs, FL.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 35 years, Barbara Parise Helman, and two children, Madison Helman (Adam Hebert) and Rick Helman, as well as his brother David Helman (Kathy Helman).
