Melanie Cherrington Conway, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister left this world HEAVEN BOUND on October 19th, 2025, at the age of 71, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Hers was a dedicated life of service, compassion, and kindness to all. Melanie was a vivacious spirit with a magnetic personality who loved people and scattered sunshine wherever she went. She loved the Lord and as a faithful lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she ministered wherever she saw a need or was called to serve. She especially loved serving in the Gilbert and Mesa temples. She recognized God's hand and miracles in her own life and bore testimony of this through song, original music, and beautiful artwork. She touched many lives with countless acts of compassionate service comforting both family and life-long friends in their time of need.

Melanie was born to loving parents, Glenn and Jeane Cherrington, on August 24, 1954, the fourth child and daughter of nine dear siblings and she frequently spoke of the wonderful childhood she enjoyed. She grew up in a home filled with love, laughter, music and faith surrounded by caring grandparents and wonderful friends she made at Highland High School in Salt Lake City, UT.

On August 22, 1974, she embarked on her greatest adventure when she married her sweetheart, “Mick” James Michael, in the Oakland Temple. Together they nurtured and raised 4 happy children in a loving home teaching them to love God and make a difference in the world through her example along with family traditions like yearly memorable trips to the beach.

Melanie thrived on using her many special abilities to uplift others. She was a gifted singer, artist and decorator whose creativity and faith shone brightly in all she did. She shared her testimony through her talents, appearing in the church Book of Mormon and Bible videos filmed in Goshen, Utah. As well as performing in the Mesa Easter Pageant for 15 years, a role she cherished deeply. In her interior design work she loved adorning homes with distinctive statues and paintings of the Savior. At every family gathering, from holiday parties to weddings and funerals and everything in between, you could count on Melanie to be there orchestrating, working her magic with flowers and food. She was also a natural athlete. At nearly 6 feet tall, she excelled in everything she tried from gymnastics, swimming, tennis, pickleball and much more.

She leaves behind her most valued treasures: her devoted husband, Mick, and children Jake (Shay), Brock (Kaeli), Claire (Ryan Randall), and Ryker (Amanda) along with 14 precious grandchildren as well as her 8 siblings and their spouses: Diane Filler (Gary), Cynthia Richards (John), Joan Morris (Dennis), Heather Herrscher (Steve), Korvin Cherrington (Pili), Joyce Cherrington, Drew Cherrington (Sherry) and Michelle Fawson (Mark) and dozens of adoring nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her precious granddaughter, Kate Conway.

While her absence creates an unfillable void, her influence will be felt forever in the lives of those she touched.
