Melanie Makelim Obituary
Melanie was the acclaimed "CEO" of her family. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, and also enjoyed reading, doing puzzles, and tending to the flowers in her yard. Melanie was a very special and unique person; had a great sense of humor, and was a very loving person. She had a spontaneous sense of adventure, just packing up the car and going on road trips throughout Michigan and all over the United States.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her son, Joseph (Tekisha) Newman, daughter Nikki (Nick) Palazzolo, and grandchildren Bradley, Jacob and Caleb Newman, and Anthony and Ariana Palazzolo. She is also survived by her siblings Robert (Marlene) Aseltine, William (Tay) Bale, Sandra Kyte, Teresa Ballance, and Jean (Irvin) Rochen. She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings Clarence "Bud", Kenneth Jr., John, and Marilyn.
Melanie will be interred in Oawkood Cemetery in Grand Ledge with a private family service.
Arrangements were handled by the Hlihan-Atkin-Barclay Funeral Home.

I will always remember you and miss you Grandma. Your love and spirit will stick with me for the rest of my life. I will always remember all of the fond memories we made together. You´re the most special and unique person I have known and made me feel just as special. Thank you for always being there for me!!

Where do I begin?Melanie and I were inseparable thru childhood and our teen years.One of my fondest memories was every day after school we would slip to her home and and make whole made French fries. Mom Marge always had the grease sitting on a little gas stove.We peel cut and fry the best fries in my life.We spent so many overnights at one home or the other.So many firsts with Melanie that Ill never forget Heaven has gained a kind funny loving angel. One day I pray we can belly laugh again.Love you always and forever.
