MELBA SEATON

 Henderson, TN:  Melba Rhea Brittain Seaton, age 94, the widow of Joe Neal Seaton, passed away at her home Saturday afternoon, March 16, 2024.   

Mrs. Seaton was born November 11, 1929, the daughter of the late William Vester and Ruby Ancie Jones Brittain.   She attended schools in Henderson County and in 1947 married Joe Neal Seaton of Chester County.  They lived in Memphis for thirty-one years where Mr. Seaton worked in the trucking business.  He retired and they moved to Chester County in 1985.  She was a member of the New Friendship Baptist Church for over fifty years and was a member of the Eastern Star Chapter #120 in Henderson where she had served as Marshall.

She is survived by a son Billy Joe Seaton of Henderson, two grandchildren and two great grandchildren, and one on the way and a daughter in law Gwen Seaton of Bartlett, TN.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joe Neal Seaton in 1998, a son Jackie Neal Seaton, 3 brothers Bud Brittain, Jimmy Brittain and Sammy Brittain, and 3 sisters; Irene Norwood, Betty Robinson, and Wanda Pickett.

Funeral services along with an Eastern Star service will be Wednesday, March 20th at 11:00 am at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with Chaplain John Haynes officiating. Burial will follow at the New Friendship Cemetery.  

The family will receive friends at the Crook Avenue Chapel from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Tuesday.
