Melba Pulsipher Hogge, a talented, loving, resilient, and spirited woman of faith, passed away on September 12, 2025. Born on April 26, 1929, in
Ogden, Utah, to Henry Russell Pulsipher and Agnes (Addie) Allen. Melba was a beacon of love and light in her community, always ready to extend a hand of friendship and kindness to all. She was a woman of many talents, blessed with a beautiful voice that she used to uplift and comfort others. Melba's life was a testament to the scripture verse from the Book of Mormon, Alma 37:35, "O, remember, my son, and learn wisdom in thy youth; yea, learn in thy youth to keep the commandments of God."
Melba's resilience and determination were evident in her professional life. She served as a Postal Supervisor at the Eden U.S. Post Office. Her dedication to her work was admired by her colleagues. But Melba's heart was always at home, with her beloved family. She was a loving mother to her 6 children, a nurturing grandmother to 30 grandchildren, and 83 great-grandchildren with one on the way. The joy she found in her family was unparalleled, and they were her greatest treasure.
A woman of many talents, Melba was known for her delicious cinnamon rolls and spicy orange drink. Her culinary skills were legendary, and family gatherings were always a feast of love and good food. She was also an accomplished quilter, gifting each of her children and grandchildren with a quilt on their marriage, a symbol of her unending love and care for them. Her hand-dipped turtles were a treat everyone looked forward to.
Melba's spirited nature was reflected in her hobbies as well. An accomplished vocalist, she sang in many music groups and lent her beautiful voice to many funeral services over the years. Music was her solace and her joy, and she shared that gift generously with others.
She is survived by her children, Diane Budge, F. Brent (Jaimie) Hogge, Kevin (Carolyn) Hogge, Chris (Sandy) Hogge, Janis (Lee) Rydalch, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her sister, Margene Johnson, and a sister-in-law, Betty Hogge.
Melba was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Lynn, Dale, and Allen; her husband, Floyd D. Hogge; her son, Larry Evan Hogge; a grandson, Brian Dean Hogge; and a son-in-law, Scott M. Budge.
