Melba Marshall Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 10, 2009.
Melba Price Marshall, of Logan, passed away at Terrace Grove on February 10, 2009. She was born April 13, 1911 in Greenville, Utah, to William David Price and Sarah Carline Davis. Melba had what she liked to call an Old West upbringing. Her papa was a silver miner and the family was raised in Caliente and Pioche, Nevada. Her husband Tom was an electrician for Union Pacific Railroad. The family moved to Portland, Oregon in 1948 and lived there for nearly 50 years until Melba's husband died and she moved to Logan. Melba's biggest joy was her three boys. She was also a talented seamstress, keeping her family and extended family in handmade clothes most of her life. She also was a beautician and ran a shop out of her home in her earlier days. She was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She held many callings, including Relief Society President. She also did an extensive amount of family history extraction work. She is survived by her sons: Kenneth Edward Marshall and wife Joanne of Blanco, Texas, and Richard Price Marshall of Portland, Oregon, her daughter-in-law Ruth Ann Marshall of Logan, and grandchildren Michelle Marshall, Steve Marshall, and Heather (Marshall) Fuoco. She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Edward Marshall, her eldest son William Thomas Marshall, and nine brothers and sisters. An informal service will be held Friday, February 13, at 2 pm at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 E 400 N, Logan, Utah. A short viewing will be held one half hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery. Condolences may be extended to the family online at www.nelsonfuneralhome.com.
