Funeral service for Melba Sue Shay, age 89, of Sulphur Springs, Texas will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home in Sulphur Springs, Texas. Interment will follow at Emblem Cemetery with Danny Williams, Ricky Williams, Tyler Rutledge, Russell Hammons, Ryan Hammons and Payton Hammons serving as pallbearers. Klay Pebley, Kevin Brown and Charles Rutledge will be serving as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home. Ms. Shay passed away at her home in Sulphur Springs on Sunday, June 1, 2025.

Melba Sue was born on November 7, 1935 in Hollis, Oklahoma to Austin Clint and Cordia Mitchell Williams. She was a beacon to her children and grandchildren. Melba had a passion for playing dominoes and dancing. She lived a long and rich life, enjoying family and friends. She valued every friendship in her life deeply. Melba enjoyed engaging in conversation over the phone. She especially loved sitting outside with her neighbors sharing, having discussions and, of course, lots of laughter. Melba was a woman of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by her son, Garry Hammons and wife, Darlene; daughter, Pam Clark; grandchildren, Shonda Rutledge and husband, Charles, Angel Brown and husband, Kevin, Russell Hammons and wife, Rachylle, Wendi Miller and husband, Stacy, Rhonda Morris and husband, Derrel, Thomas Withrow and wife, Amy; great grandchildren, Mattie Kaslon and husband, Kade, Tyler Rutledge, Katelyn Rutledge, Klay Pebley, Marty Brown, Kadie Kilmer, Ryan Hammons, Payton Hammons, Laney Hammons, Aubree Hammons, Jordan Miller and wife, Brylie, Jace Griggs, Jagger Humphries, Tessa Morris, Christian Morris, Anthony Morris, and Carli Withrow Aten and husband, Mason; great-great grandchildren, Karter Kaslon, Braxton Miller, Laramie Aten, Kimber Aten, and Easton Aten.

Melba Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Austin and Cordia Williams; brothers, J.L, Doug, Gene, and Charles Williams; husband, James E Hammons, Joe Davis and Bob Shay; son-in-law, Charles Clark; granddaughter, Misti Withrow and great grandson, Brayden Withrow.
