Melchor Marques Uria

Melchor Marques Uria passed away surrounded by loved ones on October 24, 2023 at the age of 90. He was born on June 5, 1933 in León, Spain. He was the oldest son preceded in death by his parents Melchor Marques and Jobita Uria; Pilar Marques (sister); Angel Marques (brother).

Melchor Marques was loved and respected by all who knew him. He began working at the age of 14 to support his family, later in 1960 he moved to Phoenix, Arizona. Melchor Marques worked alongside his youngest brother Pedro Marques. Both brothers being co-owners of several Hispanic businesses including El Capri night club and Fiesta Radio La Mejor.

Melchor spent his years after retirement gardening, watching the news, doing weekly Costco runs, drinking coffee with his brother and spending time with his family. His family and friends remember him fondly; as a strong, passionate, humble, man who chased his dreams. Melchor didn’t have kids, but he served as a father figure to many. He will be missed forever, and his memory will live on with every life he touched.

Melchor is survived by brothers Pedro Marques, Herminio Marques, many relatives, and friends.  He leaves behind a loving partner Guadalupe Vega. 

On Tuesday, November 14, 2023 a visitation will be held at 9 A.M. with Rosary to be prayed at 9:30 A.M. and the Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10 A.M., at Saint Agnes Catholic Church, 1954 N. 24th St, Phoenix, AZ 85008.  Melchor will be laid to rest at Hansen Desert Hills Mortuary and Cemetery, 6500 E. Bell Rd., Scottsdale, AZ 85254 following the service.
