Melinda Griffin

Melinda was the youngest child of the nine children of Glen Ray and Ola Mae Herod, in Lubbock, TX. After graduating from Coronado High School in her hometown, Lubbock, Texas, she went to Vogue Beauty College and worked in Lubbock as a stylist for JC Penny and Village Hairstyles. She married Gary Jones from Lubbock, and had 2 sons: Kevin Jones of San Antonio, Texas and Keith Jones of Lubbock, TX. They lived in Lubbock, Albuquerque, NM and Edgewood, NM.

Melinda had a second marriage to Billy Ray Griffin in Lubbock, TX. Melinda conquered a struggle with breast cancer in 2008, surviving through chemotherapy and radiation. Although Melinda was challenged with other long-term illnesses, she spent her last years spreading kindness and consideration for poor and homeless individuals and street animals.

She was much loved and will be missed by her ex-husband/best friend Gary Jones, her two sons, Kevin and Keith, three grandsons and two granddaughters, four living siblings: Dewey Herod, Ree Stam, Mary Meyers and Martha Salazar, six nephews, two nieces, and several great grandchildren.
