Melinda Ellen LoPresto, 60, of Hillsdale, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at Henry Ford Allegiance Hospital in Jackson. She was born May 16, 1965 in Hillsdale, the daughter of Herbert and Elaine (Travis) Stump.
Melinda attended Camden Schools and was the owner of Frontier Rustic Sculpting in Frontier where she created works of art using concrete. She enjoyed riding her Harley, listening to music, dancing and taking trips to her cabin up north. Melinda also loved spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren. She had a special tradition of giving each of her grandchildren a special gift for their birthday, which often lead to her attending a concert of artists that she didn't particular care for, but knew her grandchildren loved. She was a woman of great strength, a characteristic she instilled in each of her daughters.
Survivors include three daughters, Megan Matheny, Natasha (Brandon) Bauermeister and Hanna Matheny; ten grandchildren; one great grandson; her partner in crime, John Fether; siblings, Evelyn Reynolds, Maryola (Scott) Keller, Robbie (Jon Racette) Percy, Chuck (Jeannie) Stump, Herb (Donna) Stump, George Stump and Warren Stump; sister-in-law, Vicki Stump; brother-in-law, Chris Clifton. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews and cousins. Among them her niece Kristy McKibben who shared an especially close bond with Melinda and was like a daughter to her, held a very special place in her heart.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Steve LoPresto; and siblings Roger and Brady Stump, Patty Clifton and Bobby Stump and brother-in-law, Ron Reynolds.
All are welcome to join us on Wednesday, September 17, 2025 from 3-7:00 PM at the McCourtie Park in Somerset Center for a celebration of life.
Remembrance service from 4 to 5:00 PM followed by dinner and a time to honor and share memories.
