Donald G. Gauger, age 97, of Reading, passed away Sunday, August 10, 2025 at his home. He was born October 5, 1927 in Fordson, MI to Harry and Gertrude (Bach) Gauger. He married Helen Kaetzel on October 9, 1948, and she preceded him in death on January 11, 2015.
Don was a longtime farmer and bus driver for Reading Community Schools. He retired from Essex Wire in Hillsdale after 21 years of service. Don was an extremely handy person who loved to tinker. He was always taking things apart and putting them back together to see how they worked. He was also passionate about playing his harmonica.
Survivors include two children, Dana Snyder of Coldwater and Dennis (Robin) Gauger of Butler, IN; grandchildren, Dennis Gauger II, Danny Gauger, Georgeanna (Harley) Reed and Donald "Donnie" Snyder; and great-grandchildren, Dennis Gauger III, Jake Gauger, Alex Reeves, Noah Reed and Ezra Reed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Helen; brother, Robert Gauger; son-in-law, Bob Snyder; and great granddaughter, Mary Helen Reed.
Funeral services for Donald Gauger will be held Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Eagle Funeral Home-George White Chapel in Reading with Rev. Alan Fenstermaker officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Litchfield. The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
