Melissa Norman Bennett, born on August 29, 1971, in Guilford County, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2025, in Rockingham County, North Carolina, at the age of 54. Melissa was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend whose vibrant spirit touched the hearts of many.
Melissa dedicated her life to nurturing and caring for others. Her career was marked by her roles as a Teacher Assistant and Bus Driver, where she worked closely with EC Kids, demonstrating her deep compassion and commitment to education and support. Additionally, she applied her talents in the Farmers Market and served as a Supervisor Nursing Aid, providing care and comfort to those in need.
A passionate traveler and adventurer, Melissa embraced life with an infectious enthusiasm. She delighted in spur-of-the-moment trips, whether it be a cruise or a visit to the beach. Ireland held a special place in her heart, and her love for travel was only matched by her affection for life's simple joys. Melissa thrived in the company of others, finding joy in dancing, music, and laughter. Her love for "furbabies" and "grandfur babies" was well-known, and her home was always filled with warmth and joy.
Preceded in death by her father, Terry Hull, Melissa leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory. She is survived by her devoted spouse of 32 years, Allen Bennett; her son, Wyatt Bennett; her mother, Harriett Hull; her sister, Terisa Goodman (Tom); and her sister by choice, Christine Hiatt. Her nieces and nephews, along with countless friends, will fondly remember her generous spirit and the love she shared.
Melissa had a deep appreciation for nature's beauty, especially flowers and plants, which brought her immense joy throughout her life.
A memorial service to honor Melissa's life will be held on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Christ Freewill Baptist Church, located at 163 Hilton Road, Stokesdale, NC. Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate the life of a remarkable woman who lived with purpose and love.
Melissa Norman Bennett will be deeply missed, but her legacy of kindness, love, and joy will continue to inspire all who knew her.
