Melissa Bither Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lary Funeral Home - Dover-Foxcroft on Jan. 31, 2026.
Sebec – Melissa Louise Curry Bither, 41, passed away peacefully January 28, 2026, at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, surrounded by family and friends. She was born December 28, 1984, in Dover-Foxcroft, the daughter of Valerie J. (Stone) and Archie P. Curry III.

Melissa is a graduate of Foxcroft Academy, Class of 2003. She then went on to get her associate's degree at Eastern Maine Community College for Early Childhood Education. She first worked as an Ed Tech at Orono Elementary and then moved onto Sedomocha where she remained until she retired.

Melissa's greatest joy was being a mother and wife to the lights of her life, Emma and Chris. Additionally, Melissa had a faithful companion who was by her side every day, a beautiful lab, Stella Rose. Melissa loved watching her daughter play sports. Other favorite times were spent on Sebec Lake soaking up the sun, venturing to the "big lake" to watch the sunset with family, and the Sebec Lake Derby. Besides her daughter, her next greatest joy was watching her nieces and nephews play sports and watching them grow. Melissa was a woman who valued family and tradition. Spending time with family especially on holidays, playing cards, exchanging stories and laughter were things she held near and dear to her heart. Another recent tradition were Family Dinners at The Mill hosted by dear friends, Clara and Eddie. In times when Melissa was not with her family, she made many loving memories with her Squad and closest friends. Melissa gave everything to Chris, Emma, her family, and her friends.

Melissa is survived by her loving husband, Christopher Bither; the light of her life, daughter, Emma Bither; parents, Valerie and Archie Curry; sister, Eryn Haack and her husband, Jeff; her "like" sister and brother, Tara and Daniel White; nieces and nephews, Jaedon and Jacob Haack, Kieran Clawson and Kirstin Clawson, and Owen and Ava White; grandmothers, Betsey Stone and Barb Cahill; aunts and uncles, Yvonne Witham and her husband, Maurice, Leanne Cox, Greg Curry and his wife, Cathy, Dayle Stone, Steve Stone and wife, Cindy, and Kurt Stone; parents-in-law, Steve and Indy Bither, and Melissa Bither; brother-in-law, Nick Bither; sisters-in-law, Marisa Munoz and son, Ezra, Alondra Munoz, Giselle Rojas ; "The Squad", Taylor, Jennie, Vanessa, Shannon, and Tajia; special friends, Elizabeth Bisson, Sam Greenlaw, and the Smith and Henderson families; and several beloved cousins. She was predeceased by her sister, Amanda Curry; grandfathers, Archie Curry Jr. and Robert Stone; uncle, Joe Cox; and grandparents-in-law, Barb and Glen Jones, and Betsy McAllister.

A time to celebrate Melissa's life will be held from 12pm-3pm on February 8, 2026, at the Central Hall Commons, 152 East Main Street, Dover-Foxcroft. Burial will be held this summer at the Sebec Village Cemetery, Sebec. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Melissa Bither's name to Foxcroft Academy, 975 West Main St. Dover Foxcroft, ME 04426, where an award fund will be setup for future qualifying graduates in Melissa Bither's memory.
