It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Melissa Ann Costa, beloved daughter, devoted mother, and cherished sister, who left this world on October 12, 2025, at the age of 39 in Albuquerque, NM. Born on December 21, 1985, in Albuquerque, Melissa was a lifelong resident of the area, where she built a beautiful life surrounded by the love of family and friends.

As a mother, Melissa poured her heart into raising her daughter, Riley Torres, encouraging her with every ounce of love she had. They shared countless moments of joy and laughter, building precious memories together. Melissa's family meant the world to her, and she cherished her role as a daughter to Elizabeth Arellano and David Costa. She was also a cherished sister to Valerie Arellano and an adoring aunt to her nephew, Elijah Kline. Melissa is survived by her maternal grandparents, Maryanne and Joe Montoya, and preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Diane and Tom Costa. Her family circle also included a wealth of uncles, aunts, cousins, and many friends who were like family.

Melissa's spirit was nurtured by her education, as she became a certified medical assistant and pharmacy technician. She dedicated her professional life to helping others in her role as a Pharmacy Technician at CVS in Albuquerque. Her ambition and dedication to her work were evident, but it was her warm and generous spirit that truly defined her.

Beyond her professional and familial commitments, Melissa had a zest for life that was contagious. She found joy in the little things, from watching her favorite shows to cheering enthusiastically for her football team on Sundays, enjoying holiday celebrations with loved ones, or playing softball with friends. She was known for her love of snacks and sweets, Melissa had a special gift for creating and sharing delicious recipes that brought joy to her family and friends. Melissa's kindness and loyalty were qualities that everyone admired and appreciated; her laughter and smile were infectious and her drive inspirational.

Melissa's legacy will forever be remembered through her kindness, loyalty, ambition, and her playful nature that resonated with those who knew her. A ceremony honoring Melissa's life will take place on November 7, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the Riverside Funeral Home, located at 225 San Mateo Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87108.
