Melissa Harvey Gordon

Melissa Gordon, age 76, of Cordele, passed away at her residence on Sunday, December 28, 2025. She was the wife of John Gordon; they were married for almost 60 years, and she was the love of his life. She was the daughter of the late Joe Harvey and the late Peggy Kimbrell (Gene). Melissa retired from Planters First Bank as a vice president. Her customers often described her as the "go-to" person. She was a caring Christian woman who deeply loved the Lord, her family, and her church. Melissa also enjoyed boating, family snow-skiing trips, and doing yard work. She was a faithful member of Lake Blackshear Baptist Church, the Ladies Sunday School class, and the church choir. She was very intelligent and passionate about music and animals. She was preceded in death by her brother, Gene Kimbrell, Jr., and a nephew, Owen. Melissa is survived by her husband, John; her daughters and sons-in-law, Kim Miller (Robert) and Misty Kitchens (Kirby); and her beloved grandchildren, Andrew Miller, Kate Kitchens, and Karen Kitchens. She is also survived by her brothers, Mike Harvey, Wade Kimbrell, and Lyle Kimbrell (Liz); and her nieces and nephews, Jack, Claire, Paul, Angie, Allison, and Will. Visitation will be held beginning at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 3, 2026, with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 pm at Lake Blackshear Baptist Church. Interment will be held at Sunnyside Cemetery.
