MELISSA K. HALE “Missy” age 29, passed unexpectedly January 28, 2024 from effects of her battle with thyroid cancer. She will be dearly missed by her beloved soulmate of 10 years Gino Trinh; parents Kevin and Rowena Hale; brother Eric Peterson, sister Ashley Tello (husband Alejandro), and brother Kevin Hale, Jr.; her niece and nephew Aliana and Adrian Tello; “mother-in-law” Eugenia Trinh; her fur babies Louie, Nora, Daniel, and Jupiter; numerous extended family members; and the abundance of friends she has made throughout her life journey.
Missy was born May 14, 1994 in Akron, Ohio and spent her years there until moving to the Cleveland area and settling in Lyndhurst. She was a student at Miller South School for Visual and Performing Arts and graduated from Garfield High School in 2012 before taking courses at The University of Akron. She most recently worked at Lush Salon & Nail Spa in Beachwood before her diagnosis.
Missy loved music, from singing in Show Choir to her wide palette of favorite artists. She could be caught listening to anything from Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin, Shania Twain and Fleetwood Mac, to Megan Thee Stallion and K-Pop. Missy loved and cared for animals, enjoyed reading and writing, loved to spend time gaming, deeply appreciated food, and was known for quoting movies constantly. Missy was also very proud of her Hawaiian heritage and was honorably given the name Leilani by her tutu kane.
Missy loved the fall season, especially Halloween, and also Christmas time. She was a homebody who enjoyed cozying up with Gino and her pets. Hanging with those she loved gave her great joy, including friends, family, and “The Camp”. She was also a devoted aunt who adored her niece and nephew.
Those that truly know and love Missy say she was the most hilarious person with a quick wit and a big heart. Talking to Missy was therapeutic. She always supported everyone no matter their identity, loved fiercely, and made it a point to encourage self love. She carried such a beautiful smile, and had an infectious laugh that brought everyone joy. Missy will be incredibly missed by all those that she has connected with during her 29 beautiful years of life.
