Melissa Watson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Care Cremation & Funeral Service - Eastland Drive on Jan. 20, 2026.
Melissa Kay Watson, age 61, of Mayfield, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2026 surrounded by her loved ones.
Melissa was born in Mayfield, Kentucky on November 30, 1964 to LaDonna and Steve Holden. She is preceded in death by her son Brandon Elkins and her father Steve, carrying their memory with her until her passing. She spent her life fiercely devoted to her family, known for her sass, her smile, her independence, and the love of her children.
As a mother of four, Melissa poured her heart and soul into her children. She was a constant source of strength, support, and laughter, putting the needs of those she loved above her own. Her greatest joy in recent years was becoming a grandmother, a role she embraced with every ounce of her spirit.
Outside of raising her children, Melissa's other accomplishments include running Murray Daycare for 18 years, being a talented singer, and teaching in China for 2 years. Some of her hobbies included cross-stitching, babysitting her grandchildren, and antiquing with her friends and family.
She is survived by her four children, Steven, Rebekah, Rachel, and Garrett and their significant others. She is the proud grandmother of Faun and Evie Elkins. She also leaves behind her mother LaDonna, her sister Stephanie, her close friends Sharon and Shanda, and countless other family members and loved ones.
