Melodee Cox Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory (43rd St. Chapel) - Bradenton on Feb. 9, 2026.
Melodee Maddock Cox born in Elyria, Ohio July 28, 1945 passed peacefully in her home surrounded by family on February 1, 2026. She is survived by her husband, Robert A Cox. Her daughter's Amy Donnell (Chris), Susan Starr (Judd), her son Robert A Cox III (Jayme) and son in law John McCauley. Her seven grandchildren, her "darlings", were the light of her life~ Emory, Alex, Saylor, Conner, Halle, Ryan and Elle. She is predeceased by her daughter Kristin McCauley.

Melodee and Robert, high school sweethearts, were married 59 years ago in Elyria Ohio on a snowy February day. Melodee joined Robert as newlyweds in Okinawa where Robert was serving in the Army. She taught English at local Okinawa school in her time there. They moved back and to the state of Florida in 1969 where she started a family. Her children were her pure joy. She was always a room mom, a brownie leader, on the board of Cotillion and many other organizations surrounded around her children in the community. She had a way of making her children's friends feel like they were one of hers. She was a lifelong member of Enter Nous~ loved to serve and celebrate her community with dear friends.

She had a passion for decorating and making everything special. Her home was a testament of her talent for making a space uniquely timeless and gorgeous while telling the story of her family and life. Her love of shopping led her to being on the board of Mass Brothers and cutting the ribbon at grand opening of TJ Maxx in Sarasota, Florida. Her children often joke that TJ Maxx was their playground growing up~ she frequented all within 50 miles.

Melodee's family finds peace in God's timing that is so faithful. He brought her home and healed in heaven on her firstborn, daughter's Kristin's heavenly birthday. She will have a private celebration of life with her family. She will be placed beside her daughter, Kristin, at the courtyard of Christ Episcopal Church.
