Melody Marie (Vroman) Cook, 70, of Independence, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2025. She was born to Paul and Pearl Vroman in Independence, where she spent her childhood and later attended William Christman High School.
As a teenager, Melody met the love of her life, Rick Cook. They were married in 1971 at Immanuel Baptist Church and shared over 50 wonderful years together until his passing in 2023. Their marriage was a testament to love and devotion, with Melody centering her life around her family and her beloved husband, Rick.
Melody enjoyed the simple things. She had a deep love for her cats, found comfort in her faith, and was an active member of Iantha Baptist Church.
Melody’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by by her brother, William "Bill" Vroman, her children Rick “Neil” (Amber) Cook and Kerri (Scott) Mapes and her cherished grandchildren, Timothy (Jamie) Cook, Taylor Cook, Kristina “Tyler” Cook, Silas Cook, Zachary (Kyra) Mapes, Megan Mapes, Lydia Mapes, and Hannah Mapes.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rick, and her parents, Paul and Pearl Vroman.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at Iantha Baptist Church on Tuesday March 11, 2025 at 2:00 PM.
