Wilmer Bishop Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lescher Millsap Funeral Service, LLC - Muskogee on Mar. 8, 2026.
Wilmer Lee Bishop, 86, passed away on March 4, 2026, in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He was born on April 7, 1939, in Lamar, Missouri, to Oswald Lee Bishop and Thelma Bishop (Brauberger).

Wilmer proudly served his country in the U.S. Army National Guard, a commitment that reflected his deep sense of duty and patriotism. Throughout his life, he enjoyed sports of all kinds and rarely missed the chance to watch a good game or race. He was a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Oklahoma Sooners, faithfully cheering them on each season, and he also had a strong passion for NASCAR racing. Wilmer loved the excitement and competition of the sport and enjoyed keeping up with the latest races and drivers. In addition to his love of sports, he was an avid collector of die-cast vehicles. Over the years, he built a unique and valuable collection that he took great pride in sharing with family and friends. Above all else, Wilmer treasured time spent with his loved ones. Whether it was gathering for holidays, watching a game together, or simply enjoying each other's company, he valued the memories made with his family and held those moments close to his heart.

Wilmer is survived by his wife, Sue Bishop (Hopkins); three daughters, Lisa Massey, Lori Kapuchuck, and Tysha Smith and husband Jamie; one brother, Leon Bishop and wife Linda; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oswald Lee Bishop and Thelma Bishop (Brauberger), and one brother, Larry Bishop
