Melva A. Crumble Sampson Hill from Berlin, MD. Born May 5, 1921 in Elwood, Maryland. On June 1, 2025, at 5 p.m., our beloved mom, aunt, cousin and friend went home to be with the Lord at the golden age of 104. Melva was the daughter of the late Elwood and Augusta Crumble; she was the thirteenth child of sixteen. Melva was preceded in death by her first husband Roland Sampson, her second husband John D. Hill, 7 sisters, Ella Louise, Blanch, Daisy, Willie, Audrey, Naomi, and Helen, 8 brothers, Alvin, Danny, Raleigh, Arville, Lacey, Leon, James and Medford and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Melva was raised in Federalsburg, Maryland and attended school in Federalsburg and attended Lockerman High School in Denton, MD.
She worked various jobs locally before moving to New York with her husband John D. They packed up again and moved back for a short while to New York and before you knew it came back and resided in Seaford. When Uncle John D's health began to fail, they packed up and moved to Berlin to live with Tracy and Moses.
Melva accepted Jesus Christ in her life many years ago at Zion Baptist Church in Brooklyn, NY. She was a faithful member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Bridgeville, DE for over 30 years where she served as "Mother" of the Church, President of the Ushers and served as a member of the Hospitality Committee.

"Aunt" Melva enjoyed a full life and spent many healthy and joyful days listening to gospel music, continuing her Bible Study, doing her word search, watching Walker Texas Ranger, watching the daily news and spending time with family and friends.
On Saturday, June 14, 2025, visitation will be from 10AM-11AM, followed by the Homegoing Service. Both will be held at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 108 First Street, Bridgeville, DE.
