Rosser Funeral Home - CleburneMelva Jean Boswell Jaggars passed peacefully from this world on September 28, 2025, in Cleburne, Texas where she had resided for 66 years. She was born on January 7, 1935, in Whitney, Texas and was 90 years old.
Jean graduated from Whitney High School in 1951 at the age of 16. Immediately after graduating, she moved to Fort Worth and started working at Robert & Rhea Insurance Company. Soon after arriving in Fort Worth, Jean met the love of her life, Melvin Jaggars, on a blind date. They married on June 7, 1952, in Whitney. In 1960, they moved to Cleburne where they raised three boys. Around 1965, Jean took a temporary secretarial job with the Santa Fe Railroad in Cleburne. She worked there for 22 years until the Cleburne location closed.
Jean was predeceased by her mother, Irene Worley Boswell in 1994 and her father Ed C. "Bully" Boswell in 2011; her husband of 58 years, Melvin in 2010; and two grandsons, James Chesley Jaggars in 1974 and Monte Jay Jaggars in 1975.
She is survived by her sons, Larry Jaggars of Whitney, Monty Jaggars and wife, Melinda, of Rio Vista, Texas, and Curtis Jaggars and wife, Patti, of Dallas, Texas. Jean is also survived by six grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchild were the joy of her life.
A celebration of Jean's life will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 8, 2025, in the Rosser Funeral Home Chapel. Her burial will follow at Whitney Memorial Park in Whitney, Texas. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5 - 7 p.m. Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at Rosser Funeral Home.
