W.C. was born on August 29, 1943, in
Tahoka, TX, to Wiley Cecil Curry and Dorothy Mae Tippit Curry. He married Helen Cook Curry on July 18, 1969, at Finnie Switch Baptist Church in
Plainview, Texas, where Rev. A.C. Hamilton officiated.
W.C. was raised in the Baptist faith and carried those values with him throughout his life. He worked as a farmer until 1981, then began a long career in custodial service. He served faithfully at Cleburne High School, Adams Elementary, and First Baptist Church in Cleburne. He later continued his work in the community through positions at Walmart in both Lubbock and Cleburne.
W.C. was a quiet and gentle man whose warm sense of humor and kind spirit made him a pleasure to be around. He held a deep love for his family and treasured every opportunity to gather with them. Visits from loved ones filled his heart with joy.
Though reserved by nature, W.C. was friendly and approachable, able to strike up a conversation with anyone he met. He especially cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren, who brought light and laughter into his life. During his years working as a janitor in the school system, he formed meaningful connections with the children, always showing them patience, kindness, and respect.
Music was one of W.C.'s lifelong passions. He enjoyed listening to Elvis Presley, Motown classics, and Gospel music, which lifted his spirit. Among his most faithful companions was his beloved Pomchi, "Baby Jane." She rarely left his side, accompanying him wherever he went and joining him on daily walks that became a cherished routine for both of them. W.C.'s life was marked by humility, devotion, and a quiet strength. He will be remembered for his gentle heart, his love for family, and the simple joys he embraced throughout his life.
W.C. is preceded in death by his parents, Wiley Cecil Curry and Dorothy Mae Tippit Curry; his brother, Tommy Curry; his grandchildren, Crystal Meeks, Cheyanne Williams, and Tanner Curry; and his grandson-in-law, Wesley Clark.
