Melvena Manion Powell

Melvena Manion Powell, age 87, of Upton Kentucky, passed away, Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at her residence.

She was born September 19, 1938, in Millerstown, Kentucky to the late Sam and Lillie Williams Manion. Melvena was saved at the Lone Oak Missionary Baptist Church where she became a member; she later joined New Freedom Missionary Baptist Church in Louisville and also attended the Broadford Missionary Baptist Church. She was a homemaker, who loved embroidering, sewing, crocheting and working outdoors in her flowers. She was also a member of Clarkson Homemakers.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Powell, and a daughter, Drusilla Home.

Melvena is survived by a daughter, Karen Caummisar (Boots); one son, Neal Powell (Jean); four stepchildren, Regina Williams, Carita Brents (Ed), Kevin Powell, and Kenny Powell (Rhonda); four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM (CST), Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Rogers Funeral Home with Bro. Terry Priddy and Bro. J.H. Manion officiating. Burial will follow in the New Lone Oak Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday from 11AM to 8PM and after 9 AM, Saturday at the funeral home.
