Melvin R. Brindle, age 91, of Chambersburg, PA passed away on Friday, May 17, 2024, at Brookview Nursing Center. Born in Pleasant Hall, PA on February 16, 1933, he was the son of the late Alfred O. and Erma Keefer Brindle.
Mr. Brindle was a 1951 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School. He went on to serve honorably in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Brindle worked at Nittherhouse concrete, Letterkenny Army Depot and Robert Scott Plumbing throughout the years, but retired from Beck Manufacturing after 25 years of service. In retirement he worked for Chambersburg Transportation.
Surviving is his beloved wife of 69 years, Carol E. Raifsnider Brindle, whom he married on April 30, 1955; four sons, Steven Brindle (wife Karen) of Waynesboro, PA, Roger Brindle (wife Jackie) of Chambersburg, PA, Craig Brindle (wife Rose) of Texas, and Joel Brindle of Chambersburg, PA; seven grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; and three siblings, Mae Divelbiss of New Franklin, PA, William Brindle of New Franklin, PA, and Donald Brindle of Hagerstown, MD. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth and Harold Brindle.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at 1 PM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA, where Pastor Steve Barnett will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, where military honors will be rendered.
