Melvin Thomas “Tom” Parkhurst, Jr., age 70, of Mt. Juliet, TN passed away on October 12, 2025. Tom was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother who loved his family above all else. A man of deep Christian faith, Tom found joy in sharing his love of music through singing and playing guitar, performing for many years with his church group. He was an avid fisherman who cherished the peace of the outdoors and the sound of bluegrass music that so often filled his home. Even as his own health declined, Tom’s selfless heart never wavered, he continued to visit and care for his beloved mother in the nursing facility. His kindness, faith, and love will be remembered by all who knew him.
Tom is preceded in death by his father, Melvin Thomas Parkhurst, Sr.
He is survived by:
Mother – Linda Mae Parkhurst
Wife of 47 years – Debbie Parkhurst
Son – Justin Daniel Parkhurst
Brother – Kendall (Janet) Parkhurst
Grandchildren – Jonathan Daniel Parkhurst, Gracie Hensley, Alana Hensley, Samuel Parkhurst, Leilauni Cage, and Mary-Anne Cage
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, October 16, 2025, at Bond Memorial Chapel conducted by Pastor Jacob Armstrong. Interment will follow at Hermitage Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Scott Alexander, Brandon Parkhurst, Tommy Webb, Jonathan Parkhurst, Richard Holland, and Logan Parkhurst.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 16, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at Bond Memorial Chapel, N. Mt. Juliet Road and Weston Drive, Mt. Juliet, TN. (615) 773-2663. www.bondmemorial.com
