Melvin Lee Scott, was a Christian, a beloved son, brother, and friend, passed away on August 15, 2025, in Temple, Texas, at the age of 62. Born on November 6, 1962, in Kansas City, Missouri, Melvin’s journey through life was marked by his unwavering commitment to his family, career, and country.
Melvin was a dedicated professional who served as a hiring manager for Washington International Inventory Services, where he was known for his keen insight, ability to connect with people, and reputation as a great employee. His career was not just a job; it was a lifelong passion that reflected his values of integrity and service.
In addition to his professional achievements, Melvin proudly served in the Navy, an experience that shaped his character and instilled in him a deep sense of duty and respect for others. His military service is a testament to his commitment to serving his country and protecting the values he held dear. Even while in the Navy, Melvin made sure to send financial support back to his mother and siblings, demonstrating his devotion to family.
A true sports enthusiast, Melvin enjoyed all sports throughout his life. He participated on his high school basketball team and was considered the Wilt Chamberlain of his day. He loved watching wrestling and took up golf in his later years.
Melvin was someone his family cherished deeply. He was always ready to lend a hand if something urgent arose or to send a thoughtful gift to his Aunt Marilyn Hudson to brighten her day. As a good friend, he was the kind you could always depend on—reliable, supportive, and kind-hearted.
He is survived by his loving family, including his brothers Robert Morris and Randy Morris, along with their respective spouses, Kenyada Morris and Janice Morris. Melvin's significant other, LaTasha Clark, was a cherished part of his life, providing companionship and support during their time together. As well as a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and Aunt.
A visitation will be held on August 27, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Young's Daughters Funeral Home & Bereavement Center in Temple, Texas. Following the visitation, a graveside service will take place on August 28, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas.
Melvin Lee Scott will be remembered for his kindness, dedication, and the love he shared with all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of compassion and integrity that will resonate in the hearts of his family and friends.
