Melvin Sessions Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Broussard's Mortuary - Nederland on Jan. 2, 2024.
Melvin "Ralph" Sessions, 82, of Groves, died Friday, December 29, 2023, at Brookdale Dowlen Oaks. He was born November 19, 1941, in Port Arthur, to Florence Bailey Sessions and Henry Hays Sessions.
Ralph was unfailingly proud of his country and his state. His service in the Army Reserve was a point of pride as well, and he only regretted that he was never called to active duty. He loved animals, especially cats, and could often be found with one of his many Skippy cats warming his lap. He always spoke so fondly of his parents and siblings, and missed them so much as they left us over the years. Knowing that they are now reunited gives us such peace and happiness. We couldn't have asked for a better dad, and will miss him forever and ever, until we meet again.
Survivors include his daughters, Jan Sessions Walker and husband, Danny; Kristen Sessions Bares and husband, James; and Amy Sessions Hebert; grandchildren, Ryan Elizondo and wife, Courtney; Brent Walker and fiancée, Marguerite Vaught; Collin Walker; Reid Falcon; Daisy Gillihan and husband, Karl; Carson Bares; Erin Ettenger and husband, Jeffrey; Austin Hebert; Mason Hebert; and Gavin Hebert; great-grandchildren, Olivia Elizondo; Madilyn Elizondo; Avery Gillihan; Wyatt Gillihan; Braylen Ettenger; and Karter Ettenger; siblings, Dora Hurley; Jo Ellen Waddell; and Jerry Pat Sessions and wife, Liz; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bill Sessions and Connie George Sessions; and sister, Doris Roy.
A gathering of Mr. Sessions' family and friends will begin at 9:00 a.m., with his funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at Broussard's, 505 North 12 Street, Nederland. His interment will follow at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County, Nederland.
Memorial contributions in Mr. Sessions' honor may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Avenue, Floor 17, Chicago, Illinois 60601.
