Meredith Margaret Wilcox

Meredith Margaret Golden Wilcox lived a full and blessed life. She was born in Wilson, Oklahoma to Margaret Reed Golden and William Kennard Golden. She grew up in Oklahoma City where she attended Harding Jr. High and Classen High School. Meredith later attended Ward-Belmont Finishing School in Nashville, Tennessee, and she obtained her bachelor's degree in Theatre and Drama from the University of Oklahoma. She was an active member of the Chi Omega Sorority, she was elected president of the Little Theatre, and she served on the board of directors at the Oklahoma City Playhouse. Meredith attended Plymouth Summer Stock in Boston, Massachusetts where she appeared in numerous leading roles throughout her acting career. Meredith married Jack Wilcox of Seiling, Oklahoma and they had three daughters; Margaret Ann Gilmore, Meredith Sadler, and Julia Gold. Meredith and Jack enjoyed traveling, entertaining, and participating in local politics. They were very happily married for many years. Meredith Wilcox loved parties and she was always willing and ready to have a good time. Meredith could light up a room with her extraordinary personality and incredible passion for life. She had an affinity for high heels, southern living, good food, antiques, and everything wonderful. Meredith was a talented painter, interior decorator, and speech therapist. She briefly worked as a real estate agent, she was featured on several local radio shows, and she taught charm school. She has been very active in the community throughout her life. Meredith served as a docent at the National Cowboy Hall of Fame for over 20 years, she assisted children with special needs, and she volunteered for Meals on Wheels. She was a member of St. Paul's Guild, St. Anne's Guild, and an Altar Guild for over 30 years at All Souls' Episcopal church. Meredith was greatly loved by family and friends all over the United States. Meredith is survived by daughters, Margaret Ann Gilmore, Meredith Sadler, and Julia Gold; cousins, Jenny Lou Nimnicht, Fred Louis, and Troy Thomas; six grandchildren and one great-grandson.
