Meretha H. Short, age 79 of Belton, passed from this life Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at home. Services will be held at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Belton on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, with a visitation starting at 12 noon and funeral to follow at 1 pm. Burial will be in Greathouse Cemetery.

Meretha was born on November 6, 1944, to the late Oscar Worley and Edith Hollers in McCreary County, Kentucky. She married Will Short and together they built a beautiful family and enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. Meretha looked forward to weekend yard sales and shopping. She loved fishing and enjoying nature with her family. She traveled the country seeing new sites outside her Kentucky home. She passionately loved nostalgic items and home cooking. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were her pride and joy. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Meretha is preceded by her parents; loving husband, Will Short; and three sisters, Hazel McMaines, Faye Valentine, and Evelyn Reynolds.

Survivors include her sons, Darrin Short, Gary Short, Stephen Short, and Johnnie Short; 8 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren.
