Scripture says no man knows the day or time that the Lord shall burst the skies and take His people home with Him (Matt 24:36; 1 Thessalonians 4:16) Though I know you can´t see nor hear me, I just want to say that I really miss your company, hearing your voice and chuckling at some unexpected moments and conversation I didn´t know we could have had, which drew me closer to you. I am grateful for the time we spent together. You will forever be in my thoughts and heart. The finality of saying good bye is always difficult so I will end with, rest in peace my Aunt Merle, until we see each other again on that great day. Love Petra

Merle McHardy Farrel was my aunt, she was my mother Venezia´s sister. My mother was the eldest daughter of George McHardy who had thirteen siblings. They all looked upon my mother with respect calling her sister Ven and my mother had a special affection for all her sisters and brothers.
I hadn´t seen my aunt Merle for several years seeing that I live in Genoa, Italy fifty-four years now. But on my return to the U.S.A. on vacation following the death of my husband after fifty-two years together, my sister Sheila and I spent a weekend with my aunt Merle and it was really nice. I found her the same person as before; joyous and generous. We laughed and talked a lot about her childhood in Tamana and she was very happy to hear many things about my grandfather George McHardy which my mother had told me. For instance; the land where the Tamana cemetery was situated was donated by him.
I sang the song "Take her home" for my aunt Merle which I wrote for my sister Merlyn who departed this life in 2020 for covid and I couldn´t take part in her funeral and sing it to her, who carried the same name as my aunt Merle.
This was my way of giving them both final leave in a loving way.
Thanks for this opportunity.
