Merle Gene Walker, 79, of Marquette, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, July 2nd, 2024.
Merle was born in Salina, Kansas on January 29, 1945, a son of Charleen Anna (Mohler) Miller and Donald LeRoy Walker.
He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1965 - 1969 on the USS Repose in Vietnam as a Helmsman.
He held many jobs during his lifetime but spent the majority of his career at Westinghouse / Philips Lighting.
Merle loved fishing, drag racing, working on cars, boating, camping, watching hummingbirds, was Mr. Fix-it to everyone, and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He was very committed to his 47 years of sobriety and was faithful to the God of his understanding and the 12 Step Program. He was passionate about helping others on their path to recovery.
Survivors include his two daughters, Shelly Lien (Chad), of Shawnee, Kansas, Tricia Walker (Mica), of Shawnee, Oklahoma; 2 grandchildren, Kendall Lien, Brayden Lien; brother, Charles Walker, of Wichita, Kansas; and many extended family members and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bruce, Dean, and his twin brother, Perle.
Visitation will be held 1:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Monday, July 8th at Carlson - Geisendorf Funeral Home in Salina with family receiving friends from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, July 9th at Marquette United Methodist Church in Marquette, Kansas.
Burial will follow at Marquette Cemetery.
Donations may be made to the Marquette United Methodist Church, Good Shepherd Hospice or to the Donor's Choice, in care of Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home, 500 S. Ohio St., Salina, Kansas.
